Servings: Serves 4 people

Appliances/Utensils:

Ingredients:

  • 8 large jalapeño peppers
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup crumbled cooked bacon
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs

Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Slice the jalapeño peppers in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes using a sharp knife and a cutting board.

3. In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until fully combined.

4. Spoon the cheese mixture into each jalapeño half, pressing lightly to fill.

5. Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs.

6. Coat each stuffed jalapeño half with flour, dip into the beaten eggs, then coat with breadcrumbs.

7. Place the coated jalapeño poppers on the prepared baking sheet.

8. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the breadcrumbs are golden brown and crispy.

9. Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.

Tips and Suggestions:

  • For an extra kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the cheese mixture.
  • To make these poppers vegetarian, omit the bacon or replace it with chopped mushrooms.
  • For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free flour and breadcrumbs.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve warm with a side of ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping. They pair well with cold beverages and can be part of a larger appetizer spread.
