Gluten-Free Lasagna with Rice Pasta

Lasagna is a classic Italian dish that has been enjoyed across the world for its rich flavors and comforting layers of pasta, sauce, and cheese. Ingredients:

  • 9 sheets of rice lasagna noodles
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced (Garlic press)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes (Can opener)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided (Cheese grater)
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the rice lasagna noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside. Use a Large Pot for boiling.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a Large frying pan over medium heat. Add the ground beef or turkey, onion, and garlic. Cook until the meat is browned and the onion is soft.
  4. Stir in the oregano, basil, crushed tomatoes, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Mix the ricotta cheese and egg in a Mixing bowl until well combined.
  6. Layer a third of the meat sauce in the bottom of a Baking dish. Place three lasagna noodles over the sauce.
  7. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles. Sprinkle with 1 cup of mozzarella cheese.
  8. Repeat layers, ending with the noodles and remaining sauce. Top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  10. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

  • For a vegetarian version, substitute the meat with sautéed mushrooms, zucchini, and spinach.
