  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth or water
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Brown the Beef: In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon or spatula as it cooks. This should take about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat if necessary.

  2. Cook the Vegetables: Add the diced onion, bell pepper, and jalapeño (if using) to the pot. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

  3. Season the Meat: Stir in the chili powder, ground cumin, paprika, dried oregano, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper. Cook, stirring frequently, for about 2 minutes to toast the spices.

  4. Add the Tomatoes and Beans: Pour in the diced tomatoes with their juice, tomato sauce, kidney beans, and black beans. Stir to combine.
